it’s fall y’all

i don’t know exactly when or how it happened but i’ve become OBSESSED with bath and body works candles. you might think there’s nothing wrong with that, like people generally love candles. they’re great for making your house/apartment/condo/whatever awesome. they’re also great for bathrooms when you don’t have air freshener (shout out to my bffs and i actually using this when we stayed at a hotel last month). and when it comes to their seasonal (fall/halloween, christmas) candles, it’s great for getting into the holiday mood. LIKE TIS THE FALL SEASON BISHES.

but i have to say i’m like actually emotionally attached to my candles. SPECIFICALLY bath and body works three wick candles. i don’t even f around with their candles if they’re not three wick. there’s nothing wrong with their other candles, but i just don’t feel excited about them. anyway, as i’m typing this, i’m trying to figure out what the point i’m trying to make is because i’m getting too excited and frantic. but i guess that’s the point – if you know me and have heard me talk about my candles, you’ll know how passionate i am about them. like how can you even be passionate about candles?!????!!

but guys. these candles have managed to become part of my self-care. there is nothing like buying the cute af candles in their cute af packaging with their cute af designs that MAKE ME FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY. not to mention the scent. my favorite thing to do at the end of a long day is bury myself in blankets on my couch and light my candle. i should warn you that if you’re like me and may or may not have fallen asleep with a candle burning, please don’t light a candle then take a nap on the couch for four hours. and with that being said – this post is dedicated to my fav fall-themed candles and how i manage to buy candles online without smelling them first.

my favorite scent in anything is vanilla and/or coconut. each of these candles generally smell like someone has been baking cookies all day long. what’s not to love about that? they’re cozy and make me feel like i’m receiving a big warm hug. i light one of these candles and instantly feel better about myself. i couldn’t even tell you which of these i prefer the most because they’re all my babies. vanilla AND pumpkin AND caramel?? YAS QUEEN. so when it comes to purchasing them online – because i’ve literally never bought any of their candles in the actual store – i always read the fragrance notes. it’s pretty much like purchasing perfume online but WAY EASIER.

everyone has preferences when it comes to their favorite scents. i know what i like and don’t like. i know i can’t stand the smell of “fake” cinnamon, for lack of better description. sorry if you thrive on cinnamon-scented candles and/or air freshener. but it’s not for me. i do, however, thoroughly enjoy the smell of cinnamon in the context of baking/baked goods. i also don’t like anything that’s too fruity. so when i’m reading the notes for each candle, i can already tell what i’ll like and use process of elimination until my cart is filled with 10 candle options.

i also choose the designs i like best because if you’re b&bw candle-savvy, you’ll know that some scents come in different packaging e.g. marshmallow fireside comes in like 28439 different designs. like i don’t want the basic (read: boring) designs. i want the cute font with pictures because it soothes something in my soul i guess.

back to having 10 candles in my cart waiting to see if they’ll be the chosen ones. yes, 10. and then from there i’m like michelle, you literally don’t need all of these candles. i know you want them – but you don’t need them. i should also add that i have a large bookshelf area in my apartment with a section of which is solely dedicate to my candles. if i don’t stop myself, i’ll have more candles on the shelf than books. i’m literally on the website right now trying to contain myself because their three wick candles are buy 2 get 2 free. i’m tempted by this marketing ya’ll. but as someone who has worked in retail, i know that’s just fancy talk for you pretty much end up getting them for half off. the point here is, if you love sweet scents, i guarantee you will not be disappointed in these candles.

now that i’ve ranted about candles enough, feel free to check out my favs that have definitely put me in the fall/halloween mood. as someone who doesn’t actually like the taste of pumpkin that much e.g. beloved pumpkin-spiced lattes and pumpkin pie, i am thrilled to actually have found a way to enjoy the damn orange thing. ok, that’s enough from me, stay tuned for more bath and body works posts because the love is that real.
