lol at this title. i couldn’t help myself. today i’ll be talking about my favorite colourpop lipsticks that can literally survive a chicken wing and cocktail sesh. finding your perfect lipstick is quite a journey. you have to go through so many different brands’ colors and formulas to get to where you wanna be in the lipstick world. and in doing so, you could really break yo bank in pursuit of your preferred lipstick.
i’m here to talk about my undying love for colourpop ultra matte liquid lipsticks but i should warn you, not every colourpop UML was made equal. this simply means that there are some shades that, for whatever reason, have a different formula than my select favs shown below. that’s really annoying but you can’t beat their $6 price tag. i’ve gone through several UMLs that didn’t work so now they live in the part of my makeup collection where makeup goes to die but i don’t regret it because SIX DOLLARS.
so let me talk about how i came to discover that colourpop UML were the real MVP. one day i went out to dinner and ate bbq chicken wings (aka they were saucey af) with fries and had quite a few cocktails throughout the night. i had tried one of the UMLs for the first time and was hesitant because testing lipstick can often go awry when you’re actually going somewhere and don’t want lipstick to end up all over your face. so after i’ve eaten like there’s no tomorrow i went to the ladies room and was literally SHOCKED to see that my lipstick was still completely intact. not only was it intact, it looked like i had just applied it. after all the grease and liquor. WHAT IS THIS SORCERY.
now colourpop also has ultra satin liquid lipsticks. they have a more velvety texture that many people adore but that i refuse to ever wear again because picture the above scenario i just presented except the complete opposite. the one time i tried an USL it was again at dinner where i ate poutine for the first time. it was f*cking delicious. but when i went to the ladies room i discovered to my dismay and misfortune there was lipstick all over the d*mn place. this is not a good look y’all. it’s just too stressful trying to fix your lipstick in any bar or restaurant’s bathroom where the lighting isn’t always the best.
which brings me back to the point. these five UML colors are tried and true. they’re my babies. they never fail me. when you’re as anxious as i am, you just want to depend on your makeup to look good and stay that way. these lipsticks have survived laughter, tears, the good, the bad, the ugly, and of course, drunk couch naps. there are times i wake up at 6am with a full face of makeup on (the ultimate beauty sin) and my lipstick is STILL. ON.
i can talk all day about how much i love colourpop. like my dream is to move to california and work for them. or just move to california in general lol. but i’ll save other CP products i love for future posts. with that being said, these lipstick don’t play around. they’re extremely pigmented which means you have to be careful and precise when applying them but it’s totally worth it in the end. they’re not transfer proof yet somehow they stay intact on my lips without patchiness. if you’re in the market to try a new liquid lipstick formula and haven’t tried the UMLs, go ahead and treat yo self to these shadezzzzz.
