mascara competition: loreal vs. too faced

hey friends! happy memorial day weekend! i hope everyone has a safe weekend enjoying this weather (while it lasts) and if anything, a three day weekend off work. i’ve been doing some blog self-reflection (lol) and i wanted to take a moment to shout out people who are so passionate about creating content, whether it’s visual or written, because i find myself being very critical of my blog content and sometimes having writer’s block! or should i say blogger’s block? anyway, while i completely enjoy creating my content, there are days that it feels like being creative and *authentically* me are harder than others. so thanks to everyone who take the time to appreciate my sh*t!

today i’m going to be discussing what might be the most important part in a makeup routine: mascara. there are literally 19839082190489023804 mascaras on the market, and it’s so hard to find ones that actually work. you’ve got so many options to choose from, and just because you pay lots of monies for a high-end brand mascara, it does not mean it’s going to perform better than a more affordable mascara. this is exactly what i’ll be ranting about here today. i strongly believe the loreal lash paradise mascara and the too faced better than sex mascara are dupes for each other. stay tuned to learn more!

to start, i prefer mascaras that are both lengthening and volumizing. i don’t have naturally long and thick lashes so they need all the help they can get. i’m not here to criticize the too faced mascara, but more so let y’all know that the loreal one is like LEGIT THE EXACT SAME THING BUT MAYBE EVEN BETTER AND HALF THE PRICE. plz see pics below for evidence. not only do they have almost identical packaging, but their wands look v similar as well. the loreal mascara is $10 while the too faced is $24. that’s a whole a*s $14 price difference guys! you could buy a bottle of wine and some snacks with that money! unless you swear by the too faced mascara, i don’t see why converting to loreal isn’t the obvious choice!

i purchased the too faced mascara a few years ago because it was so hyped up in the youtube beauty community. i’m a sucker for amazing mascaras and pink packaging. literally. if it’s pink, i might try to force myself to like it just because it’s aesthetically pleasing. i decided to buy it on a whim on a TREAT YO SELFFFF mission and WOW was i so disappointed. not to mention that for whatever reason the tube is like 500lbs. it was way too bougie with zero reward. i’ve said it before in my bougie products that didn’t work post, sometimes the more expensive a product is, the more disappointing it is when it doesn’t live up to its expectations. i immediately put this mascara down, sent it off to the makeup graveyard, and went about my business.

ever since then, i had been reluctant to try other mascaras with a similar wand. i thought – it’s probably me, not the mascara. well, about a year or so after the too faced mishap, i was convinced (those damn beauty influencers!!!!) to try the loreal mascara. my first impression was lightyears better than that of the too faced, and i was happy to keep trying it because it was half the price and weight. plus y’all can use your ulta coupons for it! this has quickly become one of my favorite mascaras and i always need to have it with me. it truly delivers amazing volume and length without making lashes clumpy or weird. if you’ve ever wondered how i achieve my lashes, this mascara is key!

now that i’ve said the word mascara enough for the next year or so, i hope this was helpful for any of you who are interested in a new mascara (mascara burn out is a thing!) or have been debating about spending your dolla dolla bills on that bougie too faced mascara. i’m here to tell you that the loreal is not only a dupe, but in my personal opinion, is a better choice. save your money for the too faced born this way foundation or above mentioned wine and snacks!!!!! feel free to let me know of other (preferably pink packaged) mascaras you think i might wanna try. thanks for stopping by the franticness that i post (mostly) every saturday! see ya!
