when in doubt, just wing it: a liquid liner recommendation

i was almost too lazy to blog today because have you seen this weather?! i’ve been a couch potato all day but i finally rolled out of my comfy burrito blanket and did some important things like shower and swiffer my apartment floor lololol. with that being said, i want to talk about something hella important. LIQUID LINER. everyone has their own style of makeup. for my eyes, i’m typically a liquid liner with tons of mascara type of gal. so it is vvvvvvv important for me to have a trusty liquid liner. i want to talk about my experiences with different liners and how i eventually came to stick with my tried and true stila stay all day liquid eyeliner.

when i first stated wearing liquid liner and doing a wing (about 8-9 years ago) i was in a committed long-term relationship with the urban decay 24/7 waterproof liquid liner, but like all great things, it came to an end when they discontinued it. idk why this always happens to me but like i hate change and when i love something i want to use it forever so this was a tough one. it was a tiny brush and bottle type situation and lemme tell you, the waterproof claim was for real. it survived through lots of tears and monsoons during college.

after that, i didn’t wear winged liner as much so when i went to ulta on a mission to find an affordable dupe (which is literally how i asked the sales associate because i was not trying to get conned into buying some bougie af liner at that point in my life) i discovered the NYX liquid liners. these liners are quite amazing guys. i probably stuck with these for a couple years until i realized they dried out a little too quickly for my liking and despite their affordable price, that got a bit annoying so it was time to move on.

this is when the universe brought me to the stila liner. i think i purchased it when i went to ulta and made a bunch of YOLO purchases. what’s important here is that i was used to and preferred the brush and bottle situation because i had tried felt-tip pen liners in the past (looking at you maybelline and NYX) and i was not about that life. which made me hesitant to try this stila pen because in my experience, pen liners didn’t make for a continuous line and i had to keep dipping back into the pen and it was just a hot mess so no thanks!!! but upon trying this, i was pleasantly surprised that i was able to draw a complete wing without having to dip back in. it’s more of a bougie purchase but i believe it’s worth it!

i enjoy how precise this liner pen is. i also love that it’s inky but not too inky, easy to fix if you make mistakes (which is 100% likely when doing a wing) super black, and matte affffff. i find that these don’t dry out as fast and make liner application pretty easy. but don’t get me wrong, even though i’ve been wearing a wing for years, sometimes i have days where it seems like i’ve never worn it a day in my life.

so that’s the story on my liquid liner experiences. if you have any favs that i might like, feel free to message me! and, as always, i really appreciate all of you who take the time to check my blogs and express genuine interest in the sh*t i have to say on this thing. PS – i pretty much live my life based on the title. i think “winging it” is a legit way to cope through a lot of difficult situations. as they say, fake it til you make it! ok bye i hope you enjoy the rest of your saturday!
